I still can’t believe I get to live in this incredible part of California and call myself a Big Sur Maternity Photographer. So many people travel this way for special event such as elopements, honeymoons, babymoons or just quick getaways. The area offers it all: wildflowers, red woods, dramatic cliffs and gorgeous beaches! The choices are endless and there’s something to please everyone.

Due to COVID and quarantine last year, I missed out on photographing a lot of the spring time wildflowers. This year, I knew I had to make it happen. There’s a magical area just at the beginning of Big Sur called Cala Lily Valley. The conditions are just right for these majestic flowers to bloom for several weeks. The best part is that the beach is just a few steps away. You get the best of both worlds. With that said, I knew this beautiful boho mustard Flutter Dress would be perfect for the location. Like most sessions in Big Sur, it was rather windy that particular afternoon. I always urge my beautiful Mamas to just let go and roll with it. Hair and dress flowing in the wind can actually end up looking quite magical! The trick is to relax, let go and not worry about controlling anything.

Being Big Sur Maternity Photographer means I get to be your location expert. There are so many spots that are a little less accessible but less crowded. It all comes down to what you are comfortable with. Of course not every mama wants to go on a hike in their third trimester! Big Sur has plenty of more accessible locations as well. My calendar is getting full with maternity sessions this spring and I couldn’t be happier to go explore with you all. Time to go scout!
